Kiss The Sky

Kiss The Sky - 102 x 102 cm.

Da Vinci watercolor on 140 lb. Fabriano hot press paper. And check out my new axe! The guy who dreamed up the Tommy Bolin "Teaser" guitar for Dean finally got one of his own. These guitars take a while to make and I wanted people who ordered them to be first in line. More soon.

  1. Damn it, Nick, I don't know whether to love you or hate you! Mostly for that painting, which has all the elements that inspire envy...although that guitar is pretty awesome, too.

  3. Beautiful! I had the pleasure of seeing your CWA entry in person today and the reception. It is always a treat to be able to look closely at the magic.

  4. Nick, the painting is just surperb, the colours and textures as usual are masterful - I could look at it for hours! Don't know much about "axes" but it looks pretty good!

  10. Hi Nick. I love this sky kiss to abstraction and the axe makes you look even ypunger than you are.
Congrats from the sunny Spain summer. Hope we can meet in september my friend.

  11. A real aurora borealis! The Da Vinci paint seems to have obeyed your instructions and taken its appropriate place (pace) on the paper. Eye-poppingly excellent work Nicholas once again. The black grounds the overall color composition and gives it that extra punch. Movement, rhythm, magic... it's all here and the best part is I get to bring the story... as my mind wanders through the universe-scape of form and color. Bravo Mr!

  16. Rhonda - I'm undecided on one of them, can you guess which? :)

Billie - I think abstract design elements add a lot of power and mystery

Alex - hola amigo, I appreciate the saludos!

Myrna - as one who has conjured up more than her share of magic, your input is always values. Got zilch in the CA show for the second time in a row...that's about $1500 of fees and shipping that goes in the red column, won't make that mistake again.

Amanda - don't bother dropping in here, you're on a serious roll and should keep your mind on your work!

    Ana - muchas gracias

Sandeep - no guitar experience required here, just refined aesthetic sensibilities..thanks! :)

Susan - i'm able to enjoy playing again after hand surgery...it's coming back, thank goodness

Tonya - another reason to go large: small mistakes can ruin small paintings, you have to make a big mistake to ruin a big painting

Agus - anybody as good as you are can probably do anything - paint, play music, etc. I've been remiss on the blogworld, will be over soon

Javier - not sure about September now, will keep the fingers crossed

Bill - if I can come up with one composition as bulletproof as Hang Nail, I'll retire!!!!

    Dake - I wonder how many others realize it's a portrait?! ;)

Sonya - it's nice having positive feedback, but I really won't know if I like it or not for some time...need to forget the details and memory of working on it for an objective take

Nancy - really nothing to do with Jimi, but something about that phrase seemed to fit...bon voyage!

    Carlos - many thanks tovarish

Jane - not sure anyone would buy that one..on the other hand, I've done paintings of Tommy B and put them in a frame!

Tom - congratulations on your recent award!

Sonya - needs to be hung out in the curing shed!

  20. This is another great work, Nick, is fantastic. The abstraction makes me feel atrapped...and I agree with Javier: You look younger than you are, near a teenager, je,je.

    Big hug,

    Enrique.

  21. Enrique - wine, women, and song (and watercolor)...it's the elixir of youth!

  22. I'm using this watercolor as inspiration for a grape h2o I'm am now painting (currently waiting for some washes to dry before I get back to it). If it comes out OK, I'll post it. As always, great visiting your blog!

  27. I LOVE THIS, NICK!! I can be added to the "don't usually like abstracts" category, but this one is awesome. I turned the computer to my oldest son and his wife and said, "Do you like this?" He instantly said, "It's a face!" I couldn't see what he was seeing until I saw it and now can't unsee it. It's one of those that you can see something new everytime. GREAT. I am so ready to get painting again and hope to remember how at this point!

  28. Catherine - sorry to have missed your post,I've been unable to keep up with the blog world lately. Thanks as always for stopping by!

Cheryl - many people can't see the face (in profile) even when I've pointed out the features. :) Might have something to do with having the top half of the head missing, ya think? lol
