Artgraphica - Nicholas Simmons Online Tutorials

Artgraphica.net is a website dedicated to art instruction in many forms, across a wide range of styles and mediums. A few articles I published about five years ago on another website were recently added to the watercolor section:

Painting Large in Watercolor: Faded Glory

Watercolor Life-Sized: Tarantella

Watercolor Batik: Koi

The articles are quite detailed and include many photographs. The koi demonstration is an abbreviated version of what is covered in even more detail in my Innovative Watermedia DVD from Creative Catalyst Productions.

Thank you to Gavin in the UK for providing this valuable online resource, and for putting it all together in such a beautifully-designed site!

i enjoyed the story about your "Ode to Black". Had not seen that story before. bery amusing. the colour jewels in "Faded Glory" are things of beauty in and of themselves...

Jane - those were written a while back, I haven't read them in recent yrs because I know I'd want to change a lot of things! If you get something from them, it's worth the pain. :)

Deb - I never keep any "secrets" and have found that the more I give the more I get back

Micah - you need to write a tutorial on painting that sky!

Julie - I appreciate the good words. The inept moderators on the site where I originally posted them did a good job of burying them...thank Gavin at Artgrahpica for taking the time to dig them up and post.

Nancy - protect the studio, get out the foul weather gear! heheh

Joel - true story! That artist probably still has it in for me! :)

Great link! I remember the Koi tutorial from wet canvas. My first encounter with Nick Simmons art! I find your generosity of painting info and your time is impressive as well as inspiring as is your body of work.

Susan - not that much knowledge, but maybe figuring out how to get the most from what I DO know

Tonya - I didn't know you were also on that site, don't recall that. I got the heck out of there, it became an embarrassment just logging in! All the cool people were banned or quit anyway, no great loss. As always, thanks for stopping by!

Catherine - nothing like the tutorials you do - like a complete painting in 8 strokes. That was amazing!!!! Still keeping my fingers crossed for the Tour this summer. :)
