Tokyo Express

Tokyo Express 104cm x 104cm

Here's another inspired by an Asian theme. Can anyone tell if it's watercolor or acrylic watercolor? It is Da Vinci paint, I'll say that much!

All I know is that it is a beautiful painting....I can't tell the difference.
Anyway a beautiful painting is always a beautiful painting, no matter what the medium.

I'd bet a lot that this is the real thing --- fluid acrylics ---since Nick fell in love with Da Vinci's last year. Whatever it is, I love it. GORGEOUS! Thanks so much for sharing it.

Damn!
That's a really good one Nick!
What can I say? First thing I did was laugh with just plain happiness, excited.
Looking more closely at it my happiness turns to pure seething envy...
going to have to smash your hands or poke your eyes out..you wanna choose?
Maybe I'll go the eyes that way you can still play, I don't want to be too cruel.
It's a perfect blend of everything.

Sandy - there was a time when I only wanted to look at watercolors...then I got smart and started to think the way you do.

Dawn - I sure have been enjoying the photographs on your blog, they are really inspiring

Patricia, Painter of Ladies - glad you approve!

Sandy - you guessed it, but it really could be either. Water is the important part, right? ;)

DakO - allow me to return the favor, won't you? Don't worry about the hands, they're already self-destructing. The Chinese characters were going to be black, but when I removed the mf, I decided to leave well enough alone. Got a big week coming up, will maintain radio contact. Out.

i certainly can't tell what's what. the way you handle the fluid acrylics they behave so well 'with/the same as' watercolor so it's really indistinguisable(sp?)to me. great painting as usual.*thumbsup* i truly am enjoying your DVD...the demo and the music.(i sent you an email via WC but not sure you received it.)

Wow, this is gorgeous! (I cheated and read ahead and saw it was the fluid acrylics.) Whatever the path, it's the final destination or painting that counts. Beautiful, beautiful! (I love everything Oriental...)

Nick,

I thought it was done with the acrylics all along! No really, I did! That doesn't matter, really, but I love the vibrant colors that work so well together as well as the dynamics that make for all the movement in the painting. Everything just works and I keep noticing new things as I return to look at it.

That milky amethyst dripped over the glowing amber looks sublime! It's fab!

Hey Nick thanks for the call from Hopper Central Station. Very cool you are viewing the NY scene ... in the heat? For the painting... I must say the calligraphy is bold with a zen freshness to the strokes. And the lady who I'm assuming is Japanese is painted traditionally with the glowing liquid acrylic background (DV). All the elements spun together make for one beautiful visual tapestry. I much prefer seeing this lady in her country's traditional vestments than the modern day lime-green pantsuit of the Hillaryosaurus.

How cool is this one! geeez loueeez! I'm glad you left the writing white, it seems like it adds more deapth. Love it!
I really appreciate that you paint large format, seems like the paintings du jour are all 6"x6"!

Esta obra de esta japonesa con expresión de observación, esa cultura es pródiga en colores, quizás algún día me gustaría tener una modelo de este tipo para pintarla.

EL PINTOR.
