Ni Ko La Shi

A friend of mine recently returned from China and brought back this for me. I've always wanted to have a "chop" made, but never got around to it. I believe it is carved from soapstone, and when it was made, an onlooker read it as "Nicholas" so I guess it's authentic! Ong Kim Seng read it to me as Ni-Ko-La-Shi. It was a timely, even clairvoyant, gift. More on that soon!

Now THAT make me envious Nick, a chop, the real thing and brand new, the carvings of the upper part are amazing too, love it! you gotta post the first picture you stamp it on, right?

How cool is that! I love the look of the chop as well as the functionality of having your name to stamp on paintings. Nice friends you have....

Paul - lots of people make these things, they are available here. But I like the idea of getting one from the true origin. Things are really busy now, not as much time for the net.

H20 - I wish I would have had one yrs ago, my signature isn't very interesting.
That disturbed indidvidual, like a few others on WC, started out as a friend. But some can't handle other people's success, and that drives them to do and say things that only expose their own insecurities, failings, and pathetic weirdness. For the record, that nut wrote me from a few addresses/names, couldn't get rid of him, and then he wrote me again. Next time he can tell my lawyer to "have a great day." Loser.

Teresa - it is cool, isn't it? Wonder if I can sign checks with it.

Susan - I'll use it on some of them, and I'll certainly use the characters in a future painting.

Looking forward to how you use this, Nick. I have one...but have never used it. I'll have to dig it out (it, too, came from China years ago.)

How cool is that! What a great friend you have. I don't think your
signature is bad at all! Haven't been
on WC too much lately, but I do know about the weird one who gave you ----.
I had an art teacher who gave me ----, just jealousy. Love the new painting!

That's awesome. I think signing paintings is probably the most difficult thing about painting and you see some signatures that are full of character but I am never quite satisfied with mine. What a nice gift :)

That is so cool, Nick! The whole stamp is like a little piece of art. I've never heard them called a chop, tho. Zhen used to offer them upon request from her website but when I went back to order one the offer had been removed. dang......

Who was picking on you on WC? Inquiring minds would LOVE to know. I can't help it. I'm snoopy.

Nicholas

Today I have enjoyed as never before .... I saw a report about his work in the magazine L'Watercolor # 1.
Great news!
A big hug!!!

Rhonda - I actually know several people that have them but don't use them. Maybe it's just one of those things ya gotta have!

Susan - the signature isn't bad, but it could be better. Too late, too many paintings out there. You've probably been around WC long enough to spot the weirdos, frauds, and trolls. I tend to keep them under the bridge, where they belong!

Lori - I remember hearing Valfred Thelin tell a buyer that the painting was free, he was charging for the signature, heheh.

Janet - great name, it's served me well!

Billie - found this: "an official stamp or seal, or a permit or clearance, esp. as formerly used in India and China."
Don't want to sully the blog with names of neurotic miscreants, email me.

Juan - gracias! I have not received the magazine yet, but I've been hearing from people in europe about it. I have a feeling you'll be featured in there soon!

I would say you just snatched the pebble from the master's hand. Nicely done - and guard it well!

Bill - he was blind and he wasn't looking!

Chris - exactly the kind of thing you should have, and I'll have the opportunity to pick one up for you pretty soon. Also looks like there will be an SRQ workshop coming up.
