Turn Up The Volume

This was recorded live at the Florida Guitar Show, at Thoroughbred Music in Clearwater, late 1990s. At the time I was sponsored by Ibanez guitars, Laney amps, D'Addario strings, and Roland. All music and guitars by yours truly. The louder, the better!

Great Nick and I love the pictures too! Although all that hair on you and your colleagues seems to indicate the 80's or even the 70's... :) Maybe it's just rock and roll! Sorry....jazz. Love all these musical vids - shows us another dimension to your already overloaded talent base!

Fabulous music Nick! I envy your ability to play so well. Just wonderful.

Nancy - colleagues, heheh. A few in there you might recognize - in one pic you can see Will Lee and Anton Fig from the David Letterman band, in another bassist Tony Franklin and drummer Rod Morgenstein. Of course you're no stranger to big name rockers!

Jeanette - it's about all I ever did, Jeanette. Yes, playing an instrument does take a lot of practice. Though the great Wes Montgomery once said he never practiced, only opened the guitar case once in a while and threw in a piece of meat! (that's my approach to painting)

Mary - I'm not always a "louder is better" type, but this one is best on 11, Spinal Tap style. :)

Hey Nicholas - nice you punctuate the blog with these musical inserts. I enjoyed the music and your virtuoso axe-manship. You sure looked like you were grooving in that environment .. and just plain enjoying the hell out of playing kick ass music. Hmmm - just flashed on the vid of you hanging out with the guy from BOA (not bank of america). I prefer the venue where you are performing here.. but I've been known to dig the various locations of entertainment's underbelly as well.. maybe too well. But that thought is for another post. Thanks for all those melodious musical notes - !

Cool music Nick. Do you like music or art best? Can you pick one?

Bill - just saw this, sorry to be lax on blog. The underbelly...where the darker images are evoked...I know just the blog to visit for that peek into the maelstrom!

Jean - I'd have to say that music seems the more profound medium to me, but I could not live without visual art!

Solid driving rock here Nick!! A massive sound, even through my desktop speakers, it punches a wallop! Great variations on a dominant cascading 4-note progression that anchors the whole piece through a musical maelstrom wohwoa!!

Wayne - thanks for the enthusiastic crowd reaction! Everything but the guitars is sequenced, it was played live and recorded direct. I think it could use a heavy violin part, ha. Hope we get to jam one of these days!
