There was an excellent turnout today at the reception for the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition at Strathmore Mansion in Bethesda. I saw a lot of friends and met some artists I have only known by name or reputation. Strathmore is a wonderful venue, and the 100 paintings are hung in several rooms on two floors. Thanks to the Baltimore Watercolor Society and the Board of Directors of Strathmore for putting on such a fine show.Summer Sonata was awarded the Margaret Jones Memorial Silver Medal.

Dake - it's an historic mansion, very nice place for exhibits and special events. Btw, my favorite was another killer piece by Carole Pickle.
Billie - no masterpiece - for that you'd have to check out the grass paintings of Alex Kanevsky.

i checked out Alex Kanevsky's grass paintings. i have to disagree with you, Nick. i like your version much better.
Nicholas it's nice to see you are invitable and cut a dashing figure at these beaux artes events (I get the spelling?). And a family man who includes his family.. now that's real character. I love the grass painting as I am naturally drawn to the abstract. You must have had a heck of a time rendering all the divergent shapes. But as we see here worth the effort. Good job and great job even....
Billie - well we're going to have to agree to disagree on that one. (I hope you found Alex Kanevsky, and not Alexander Kanevsky....BIG difference, Боже мой!)
