There was an excellent turnout today at the reception for the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition at Strathmore Mansion in Bethesda. I saw a lot of friends and met some artists I have only known by name or reputation. Strathmore is a wonderful venue, and the 100 paintings are hung in several rooms on two floors. Thanks to the Baltimore Watercolor Society and the Board of Directors of Strathmore for putting on such a fine show.
Summer Sonata was awarded the Margaret Jones Memorial Silver Medal.

It all sounds really wonderful Nick ...again,Congratulations!A well deserved award!
You all look like you are enjoying yourselves.
You make a beautiful family photo.
congrats! You should be so proud! You do great work too:)
Congratulations on the award, Nick. A fine painting.
The venue and your work compliment each other.
Looks spectacular in that setting.
Congratulations again Nick!
Nick, who would've thought you could take a macro view of a patch of lawn grass and turn it into an award/awards winning masterpiece?! only you, my friend. it's a testiment to your creativity and technique. also to the fact that beauty can be found in the strangest places. way to go!
congratulations Nick, great family photo!
Love that painting. Excellent! Wat to go.
Sandy - I usually wreck all family photo attempts, but we keep trying!
Daniel - thanks for stopping, I discovered you from the person above ^^^^
Don - I was never sure about it, but have learned there is someone out there for every painting!
Dake - it's an historic mansion, very nice place for exhibits and special events. Btw, my favorite was another killer piece by Carole Pickle.
Billie - no masterpiece - for that you'd have to check out the grass paintings of Alex Kanevsky.

Dawn - see above ^ :)
Sandy - thanks for stopping by.. I'm seeing your name come up more and more, people are spreading the word!
i checked out Alex Kanevsky's grass paintings. i have to disagree with you, Nick. i like your version much better.
Nicholas it's nice to see you are invitable and cut a dashing figure at these beaux artes events (I get the spelling?). And a family man who includes his family.. now that's real character. I love the grass painting as I am naturally drawn to the abstract. You must have had a heck of a time rendering all the divergent shapes. But as we see here worth the effort. Good job and great job even....
Billie - well we're going to have to agree to disagree on that one. (I hope you found Alex Kanevsky, and not Alexander Kanevsky....BIG difference, Боже мой!)
Bill - between you, Billie, Burge, and Bruce, I'm starting to believe it's better than I originally thought.
You must be over the initial culture shock, I'll be right over to see what's posted.
Congratulations Nick. The venue is spectacular!
PG - thanks for dropping by. And the painting just sold, that always helps!
Shucks... did I miss out again!
